Bangla Bijoy ↔ Unicode Converter

Convert Bijoy (SutonnyMJ) text to Unicode Bangla, or Unicode to Bijoy, instantly in your browser. Free, private and no sign-up.

The conversion runs in your browser. Your text is never uploaded. Bijoy text looks like ordinary English letters until it is shown in the SutonnyMJ font, so this is normal.

What Is a Bijoy to Unicode Converter?

A Bijoy to Unicode converter changes Bangla text written with the Bijoy keyboard into standard Unicode Bangla. Bijoy is a popular typing system in Bangladesh. It stores Bangla letters as English letters and symbols and relies on a special font such as SutonnyMJ to show them in Bangla. If the font is missing, the same text looks like nonsense, for example Avwg evsjv instead of the Bangla words it stands for.

Unicode is the international standard for text. Unicode Bangla displays correctly on websites, phones, social media, email and search engines without installing any font. Our free Bangla Bijoy ↔ Unicode converter lets you move text in both directions: Bijoy to Unicode for the web, and Unicode to Bijoy for print files that still use SutonnyMJ.

How to Use the Bijoy to Unicode Converter

  1. Choose a direction. Select Bijoy → Unicode or Unicode → Bijoy at the top of the tool.
  2. Paste your text into the left box. The result appears in the right box straight away, so there is no convert button to press.
  3. Check the digits option. Keep it ticked if you want numbers such as 2026 to become Bangla digits, or untick it to keep English digits.
  4. Press Copy result and paste the text into Facebook, WordPress, Word, Google Docs or any other app.
  5. Use Swap if you want to send the result back through the converter in the other direction.

When you convert to Bijoy, the result looks like English letters. That is correct. Paste it into a program, select it and choose the SutonnyMJ font to see Bangla.

Bijoy vs Unicode: What Is the Difference?

Both systems can write the same words, but they work in different ways. The table shows the main points.

Why Convert Bijoy Text to Unicode?

  • Publish on the web. A website, blog or online shop must use Unicode so that visitors and Google can read the words.
  • Share on social media and messaging apps. Facebook, WhatsApp and Telegram do not understand Bijoy codes.
  • Make text searchable. Unicode text can be searched, sorted and used in Excel, Google Sheets and databases.
  • Avoid font problems. A Unicode file looks the same on every phone and computer.
  • Save old documents. Many government, school and newspaper files were typed in Bijoy years ago. Converting them keeps the content usable.

When Do You Need Unicode to Bijoy?

Some print shops, publishers and design teams still work with SutonnyMJ in Microsoft Word, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or PageMaker. If you wrote your text on a phone with a Unicode keyboard such as Avro or Gboard, you can convert it to Bijoy and paste it into those programs, then set the font to SutonnyMJ. The converter reorders vowel signs, reph and common conjuncts so the text appears in the correct order.

Examples of Bijoy and Unicode Text

These examples show how the same Bangla words look in each system.

Unicode BanglaBijoy code
আমি বাংলাদেশকে ভালবাসিAvwg evsjv†`k†K fvjevwm
শিক্ষাwk¶v
স্বাধীনতা¯^vaxbZv
কৃষকK„lK

The first letters of Bijoy words such as Avwg are not typing mistakes. They are the codes that the SutonnyMJ font turns into Bangla shapes.

Common Problems and How to Fix Them

  • You see English letters after pasting. The text is still Bijoy. Convert it to Unicode, or set the font to SutonnyMJ.
  • A few letters stay unchanged. The tool covers the standard SutonnyMJ table and the most common conjuncts. A rare conjunct code may stay as it is. Retype that one word or check it by eye.
  • The text comes from a different Bijoy font. Fonts such as Boishakhi or Bongshi use other codes and may not convert correctly.
  • Hidden formatting from Word. Paste the text into Notepad first to remove hidden formatting, then paste it into the converter.
  • Boxes or question marks after converting. Your device has no Unicode Bangla font. Install Noto Sans Bengali, Kalpurush or SolaimanLipi.

Tips for Typing Bangla in Unicode

  • Use a Unicode keyboard such as Avro Phonetic, Gboard or the Bengali keyboard that comes with your phone.
  • Use a Unicode font on your website. Good free choices are Noto Sans Bengali, Hind Siliguri and Kalpurush.
  • Keep a Bijoy copy only for print jobs that need it. Keep one Unicode master copy for everything else.
  • Always read the converted text once. A quick check catches rare conjuncts and spelling slips.
