Gregorian (English)

Hijri (Islamic)

Bangla (বংগাব্দ)

Valid for Gregorian years 1600 to 2999. Hijri dates are calculated, so the real start of a month can differ by a day or two where it depends on moon sighting. For Ramadan, Eid and Hajj, always confirm with the official announcement.

What Is a Hijri, Bangla and Gregorian Date Converter?

A Hijri, Bangla and Gregorian date converter shows the same day in three calendars at once. You enter a date in one calendar, and the tool instantly shows the matching date in the other two, together with the weekday in English and Bangla. People in Bangladesh use all three calendars every year: the Gregorian (English) calendar for work, school and official papers, the Hijri calendar for Ramadan, Eid and other religious days, and the Bangla calendar for Pohela Boishakh, festivals and the farming seasons.

This free tool saves you from counting days or searching through printed calendars. It works on phones, tablets and computers, needs no sign-up, and runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you type is sent anywhere.

How to Use the Date Converter

  1. Choose what you want to enter: Gregorian date, Hijri date or Bangla date.
  2. Pick the date. Gregorian uses a date picker. For Hijri and Bangla, type the year, choose the month and type the day. Bangla digits such as ১২৩৩ are accepted.
  3. Read the three result cards. Each card shows the date in English and in Bangla. Press Copy to copy a result.
  4. If your local moon sighting is different from Saudi Arabia, set the Hijri date adjustment, for example -1 day.
  5. Press Today to jump back to today’s date.

Understanding the Hijri (Islamic) Calendar

The Hijri calendar is a lunar calendar that began with the Hijra, the journey of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from Makkah to Madinah in 622 CE. It has 12 months of 29 or 30 days, so a Hijri year has 354 or 355 days. That is about 11 days shorter than a solar year, which is why Ramadan and Eid move earlier through the seasons every year. A Hijri day begins at sunset, not at midnight.

The Bangla Calendar (Bangabda) Explained

The Bangla year, called Bangabda (বঙ্গাব্দ), is a solar calendar tied to the seasons of Bengal. Bangla year 1433 began on 14 April 2026. As a quick rule, the Bangla year is the Gregorian year minus 593 from 14 April onward, and minus 594 before 14 April.

Bangladesh uses the revised Bangla calendar introduced by the Bangla Academy and adopted officially in 1987. The first five months have 31 days and the rest have 30, with Falgun getting a 31st day in a leap year. Because of this, every month starts on a fixed Gregorian date, and Pohela Boishakh is always on 14 April. The traditional calendar used in West Bengal, India differs, so dates there can be off by a day or more. This tool follows the Bangladesh calendar.

The Gregorian Calendar

The Gregorian calendar is the international civil calendar. It has 365 days, or 366 in a leap year, and 12 months from January to December. It is the calendar used on passports, contracts, bank statements and school certificates, so almost every Hijri or Bangla date eventually needs to be matched with a Gregorian date.

Why Hijri Dates Can Differ by One or Two Days

A Hijri month traditionally begins when the new moon is sighted. Saudi Arabia follows the calculated Umm al-Qura calendar, which this tool uses as its base. Bangladesh and many other countries decide the start of each month by local moon sighting, which is often one day later than Saudi Arabia. That is why Eid can fall on different days in different countries.

To match your local calendar, use the Hijri date adjustment box. Choose -1 day if your country is usually one day behind Saudi Arabia. For Ramadan, Eid, Hajj and legal documents, always confirm with your national moon sighting committee. Outside the years 1900 to 2100, the tool falls back to the tabular Islamic calendar, which is an approximation.
