SVG to JSX Converter

Paste or upload your SVG and get a clean React component in one click. Attributes are fixed for JSX, with TypeScript support and a live preview. Free, fast and private.

Preview

Everything runs in your browser. Attributes are renamed for React (class becomes className, stroke-width becomes strokeWidth), style strings become objects, and editor metadata and scripts are removed.

What Is an SVG to JSX Converter?

An SVG to JSX converter turns SVG code into JSX, the syntax that React uses. SVG is an XML image format, and JSX looks similar but follows stricter JavaScript rules. If you paste raw SVG into a React component, you will often see warnings or errors, because attributes like class and stroke-width are written differently in React.

Our free tool fixes all of that for you. Paste your SVG or upload an .svg file and get a ready to use React component in JavaScript or TypeScript. A live preview shows that your icon still looks right.

How to Convert SVG to JSX

  1. Paste your SVG code into the input box, or click Upload to load an .svg file. Click Sample to see an example.
  2. Choose React component or JSX markup only, then pick JavaScript or TypeScript.
  3. Type a component name, for example SearchIcon.
  4. Tick Pass props so you can set size, color and class names when you use the icon. Tick Remove width & height and Use currentColor if you want the icon to follow your CSS.
  5. Click Copy or Download to save the file.

What Changes When SVG Becomes JSX

These are the main differences the converter handles for you.

Why Can You Not Paste SVG Directly Into React?

JSX is not HTML. Every attribute must be a valid JavaScript style name, so hyphenated names become camelCase and class becomes className. The style attribute must be an object and not a string. Tags must be properly closed, and curly braces in text have a special meaning. If any of these rules are broken, React shows warnings or the build fails.

How to Use the Converted Component

Save the output as a file such as SearchIcon.jsx and import it like any other component. Because the props are passed to the SVG, you can set the size, class name and color from outside.

import SearchIcon from "./SearchIcon";

export default function App() {
  return <SearchIcon width={32} height={32} className="text-blue-600" />;
}

If you tick Use currentColor, the icon takes the text color of its parent, so a single CSS color rule can restyle it.

Tips for Clean SVG Icons

  • Optimize first. A tool like SVGO removes extra data and makes the JSX shorter.
  • Keep the viewBox. It lets the icon scale to any size. If your SVG has only width and height, the converter adds a viewBox when you remove the fixed size.
  • Use currentColor for single color icons so they match your text and theme.
  • Avoid embedded images. Large base64 images inside SVG make the component heavy.
  • Give each icon its own file and a clear name, so it is easy to import and reuse.

Common Problems and How to Fix Them

  • No svg element found: make sure you pasted the full code starting with the opening svg tag.
  • Invalid XML: the tool still tries a lenient mode, but fix unclosed tags and stray characters when you can.
  • Duplicate ids: if you use several icons that share the same gradient id, rename the ids so they do not clash on the page.
  • Colors look wrong: check whether Use currentColor is turned on, because it replaces fill and stroke colors.

Who Uses an SVG to JSX Converter?

React and Next.js developers use it to turn icons and logos into components. Designers who hand off SVG files from Figma or Illustrator use it to speed up the work. Students and bloggers use it to learn how SVG and JSX differ.

Is It Safe to Paste My SVG Here?

Yes. The conversion runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Your SVG is not uploaded, stored or sent to any server. Scripts inside the SVG are never run, and they are removed from both the output and the preview.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert SVG to JSX online?

Paste your SVG code into the input box or upload an .svg file. The JSX component appears instantly. Then copy it or download it as a .jsx or .tsx file.

What is the difference between SVG and JSX attributes?

JSX uses camelCase names, so stroke-width becomes strokeWidth and fill-rule becomes fillRule. It also uses className instead of class, and style must be an object instead of a string.

Can I get TypeScript output?

Yes. Choose TypeScript in the Language option and the component is typed with SVGProps for the svg element, so it accepts all normal SVG props.

What does the Use currentColor option do?

It replaces fill and stroke colors with currentColor, so the icon takes the text color of its parent element. Colors set to none or to a gradient url are left alone.

Why remove width and height?

Removing the fixed size lets you control the icon size with props or CSS. If your SVG has no viewBox, the tool creates one from the old width and height so the icon still scales.

What happens to Inkscape or Illustrator extras?

Editor metadata, comments, Inkscape and Sodipodi namespaces, and script tags are removed because React does not need them and they only make the file bigger.

Does this work with Next.js and Vite?

Yes. The output is a standard React component, so it works in Next.js, Vite, Create React App, Remix, Gatsby and React Native Web.

Is this SVG to JSX converter free and private?

Yes. It is free with no sign-up and no limit. All processing happens in your browser, so your SVG is never sent to a server.
