How to improve

Your text stays in your browser and is not uploaded. Readability scores are estimates and should guide your editing, not replace your judgment.

What Is a Text Readability Checker?

A text readability checker measures how easy your writing is to read and understand. It looks at things such as the length of your sentences and the length of your words, and turns them into a score. A higher score means a text that most people can read quickly. A lower score means a text that needs more effort.

Writers, students, bloggers, marketers and teachers use readability scores to make their text clearer for the people who will read it.

How to Check the Readability of Your Text

    1. Paste your text into the box, or press a sample button to see how it works.
    2. Leave the language on Auto detect, or choose English or Bangla.
    3. Read your score and level in the top box.
    4. Check the tips, the statistics and the highlighted long sentences.
    5. Edit your text and watch the score update.

    English Readability Formulas Explained

For English text the tool calculates five well-known measures:

    • Flesch Reading Ease: a score from 0 to 100. Higher is easier. A score of 60 to 70 is considered plain English.
    • Flesch-Kincaid Grade: the US school grade a reader needs to understand the text.
    • Gunning Fog Index: an estimate of the years of schooling needed, based on sentence length and the share of long words.
    • Coleman-Liau Index: a grade level based on letters per word and sentences per 100 words.
    • Automated Readability Index: a grade level based on characters per word and words per sentence.

The big score at the top uses Flesch Reading Ease. The tool also shows the average grade of the four grade-level formulas.

    Readability Checker for Bangla

There is no single official readability formula for Bangla, so this tool uses a transparent estimate. It reads your Bangla text, splits sentences at the full stop (।), question mark and exclamation mark, counts the words, and measures the average sentence length, the average word length and the share of long words and long sentences. These are combined into a score from 0 to 100, with levels from very easy (খুব সহজ) to very hard (খুব কঠিন).

Treat the Bangla score as a guide for editing. Shorter sentences and familiar words will raise it, in the same way as they help in any language.

What Is a Good Readability Score?

It depends on your audience. For a general audience, blog posts, product pages and news, aim for a Flesch Reading Ease score of 60 or higher, which is about the 8th or 9th grade. Technical, legal and academic writing is often lower, but even experts prefer clear writing. For children and learners, aim higher than 80.

    How to Improve Readability

    • Shorten sentences. Aim for an average of 15 to 20 words and split any sentence that runs over 25 words in English or 20 words in Bangla.
    • Use everyday words. Choose the simpler word when two words mean the same.
    • Use short paragraphs. Two to four sentences per paragraph are easy to scan.
    • Use the active voice. Say who does what.
    • Add headings and lists. They help readers find what they need.

    Readability and SEO

Search engines do not rank pages by a Flesch score, but readable pages keep people on the page longer, are easier to scan and are more likely to be shared. Clear writing is also easier for people who read on a phone or in a second language. Use the score as a quality check next to your keyword and topic research.

    Limits of Readability Scores

A score cannot judge accuracy, tone or whether your content is useful. Short sentences can still be confusing, and a high score does not make a text good. Very short texts under about 100 words give unstable results. Use the checker as one signal and always read your text aloud as a final test.

    Free and Private

The checker is free, has no word limit and needs no account. Your text is analyzed in your browser and is not stored or uploaded.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What does a readability score mean?

It shows how easy your text is to read. For English, the Flesch Reading Ease score runs from 0 to 100, and a higher score means easier text.

Does it work with Bangla text?

Yes. The tool detects Bangla automatically and shows an estimated score based on sentence length, word length and the share of long words and sentences.

Is the Bangla score an official standard?

No. There is no widely accepted readability formula for Bangla, so the score is an estimate. Use it to compare drafts of your own writing rather than as an exact grade.

What is a good Flesch Reading Ease score?

A score of 60 to 70 is plain English that most adults understand. For web content aim for 60 or higher.

A few sentences work, but at least 100 words give a more reliable result.
