What Is a Number to Words Converter?

A number to words converter turns digits such as 125000 into written words such as “one hundred twenty-five thousand”. It saves time and prevents mistakes when you fill in cheques, invoices, receipts, contracts, vouchers and school or office forms, where the amount must be written in words as well as in figures.

Our free tool writes the same number in three languages at once: Bangla, English and Arabic. It understands the Bangla lakh and crore system, so a number like 1,25,000 becomes এক লাখ পঁচিশ হাজার without any manual counting. You can type English digits, Bangla digits or Arabic-Indic digits, and you can add Taka or US Dollar for money amounts.

How to Use the Number to Words Converter

  1. Type or paste your number in the box. Commas and spaces are ignored, so 1,25,000 and 125000 give the same result.
  2. Choose how to write it. Pick Number only for plain words, or choose Bangladeshi Taka or US Dollar to write an amount of money.
  3. Tick “only” if needed. Cheques in Bangladesh usually end with মাত্র and English amounts end with “only”.
  4. Read the three results and press Copy next to the language you need.

The line under the results also shows your number grouped in the lakh and crore style, in the international style and in Bangla digits.

Lakh, Crore, Million and Billion Explained

Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Nepal group digits in a different way from most of the world. After the first three digits from the right, the groups have two digits each. This is why the same number has different names in Bangla and English.

NumberBanglaInternational name
1,000এক হাজারone thousand
1,00,000 (100,000)এক লাখone hundred thousand
10,00,000 (1,000,000)দশ লাখone million
1,00,00,000 (10,000,000)এক কোটিten million
100,00,00,000 (1,000,000,000)একশো কোটিone billion
1,00,000 croreএক লাখ কোটিone trillion

A quick rule: 1 million equals 10 lakh, 1 crore equals 10 million and 1 billion equals 100 crore.

Writing Amounts in Words on Cheques and Invoices

Banks and offices ask for the amount in words to avoid mistakes and tampering. Choose Bangladeshi Taka and the tool writes the main amount as taka and the first two decimal digits as paisa. For example, 1,500.50 becomes “one thousand five hundred taka and fifty paisa only”. In US Dollar mode the decimals become cents.

  • Write the words on the line in one go and draw a line through any empty space.
  • Make sure the figures and the words match exactly. If they differ, many banks treat the words as correct.
  • Always check the final text yourself before you sign a cheque or a legal document.

How Bangla Number Names Work

Bangla is special because every number from 1 to 99 has its own name. There is no simple pattern like “twenty-one” in English. For example 21 is একুশ, 29 is ঊনত্রিশ and 99 is নিরানব্বই. Learners often have to memorise all 100 names. A converter removes that work, because it holds the full list and joins the parts for hundreds, thousands, lakhs and crores in the right order.

About the Arabic Number Words

Arabic number grammar depends on gender, case and the thing being counted. Our converter uses the standard masculine forms that are common in general writing, for example ثلاثة آلاف for three thousand and a singular form after eleven, as in أحد عشر ألفًا. This is right for most everyday uses. For official papers, a translator or a bank should confirm the final wording.

Who Uses a Number to Words Tool?

  • Accountants and shop owners who write cheques, vouchers and invoices.

  • Government and bank staff who fill forms that need the amount in words.
  • Writers and translators who move numbers between Bangla, English and Arabic.
  • Freelancers who send invoices to clients in different countries.
